How'm I doing?  =3

Comments/questions about how or why I play Xan/the Knitted Doll the way I do?  Feel free to ping me here.  I welcome discussion!

Comments are screened.  Anon's off and logging on, though.  I hate anon with a passion, as I've seen it do far too much needless damage to too many people, including friends of mine.  I don't bite, promise!  ^__^  Thanks for understanding.

Notes on his name: For those super-familiar with the games, yes, Xan's name is actually Teddy. This, however, is something that's not learned until the very end of the second game, in the bonus chapter that comes only with the Collector's Edition (or that's what it's called on Big Fish Games; other sites may have a different name for the expanded, special-features-included versions of their games). And even then, only if you poke into a a little diary in a somewhat out-of-the-way spot and it's not something you really need for gameplay to continue, so you might miss it altogether.

OOC reason I stick with "Xan" - I started playing him right after the first game was released, a few years before the second one ever came out. He didn't have a name at all, so I gave him one. I've grown too fond and attached to it to give it up to a name that I, frankly, feel is lame. Hey, I'm just being honest.

IC reason I stick with "Xan" - Xan didn't know Kim was his creator, and she didn't remember him either, until they put his dollhouse doll into place. Xan wasn't conscious the whole time Kim had him, so even if she talked to/about him by name any time before sending him to Danielle, he wouldn't have heard it. And the time from  Kim's memories returning to everyone piling into the car was only seconds. It's conceivable that she never addressed him by name in that time, so he'd still not know what she called him.

The knitted doll is a magical construct.  It didn't have parents to teach it while it was growing up, it didn't go to school, it doesn't have years of life experience to draw on.  Before arriving in the city, its entire expanse of consciousness lasted mere hours.  Less than a day.  And yet . . . it knows things, enough to function at least.  It's not completely ignorant of the world and the people it comes into contact with.  It's sensitive, empathic, and intuitive.  It doesn't know or learn everything, but it learns what it needs to, the information just . . . coming to its mind.

This is where you come in.  The doll's "intuitive learning" is not, by any means, automatic.  It's uncontrollable and sporadic.  It might look at your character and know his/her name, maybe even something about them or about some item they're carrying . . . or it might not.  More information about how the doll's intuitive learning works is available on its app post (here for Wake app).

So . . . what is okay (or not!) for the knitted doll to know about your character or anything on his/her person?  (It'd have to see it first, by the way - "line of sight" and all that.)  Does it know that Loki or Aslan is a deity?  That Remus is a werewolf?  That Buffy has a destiny with vampires, Orihime has a special power, or that Wing's sword might be more than it seems at first glance?  Is that knowledge specific or really vague?  Or is knowledge about your character or an item specifically blocked, and would the doll sense as much?  Please be as brief or as detailed as you like!  \o/
